Then, in just last few days, the exact reverse occurred. Oil fell to nearly $115 per barrel from a high of $147. Gold dulled almost immediately. Gold prices bounced back on the bullion market here on fresh demand from stockists, on the back of higher advices from the London metal exchange.

MCX decides to leverage its experience in forex trading

Corporates would need to manage their forex risks more aggressively and hence we feel currency bourses would play an important role. Globally, given the very nature of commodities trading which is majority cross border participants in commodities markets are also very active in the forex market. That is one of the main reasons why globally a major part of forex trading is done on commodities exchanges.

Moving towards natural reserve funds

We have certain historical evidences to analyze natural funds. For example: Reliance Mutual fund was launched in February, this year. It was called the Reliance Natural Resources fund. There was an over whelming response from investors. The scheme attracted about Rs. 6000 crore in subscriptions. Also, there was the DSP ML Natural Resources and new energy fund which was launched in April and had managed to amass around Rs.275 crore from the investors.

The rising prices of commodities, such as food grains and natural resources has led to a sharp cut in real income. The Governments, all over the Globe, are in a panic situation and they are desperately trying to find a break through in the rise in prices. In India, investors have started to benefit in terms of global diversification.

In recent years there has been a rise in commodities like base metals, gold, oil and natural gas. India has sufficient amounts of basic commodities, within India and globally too.

Understanding the present unclear market

The same thing is likely to happen in Europe. Although governments in emerging economics have taken care of the citizens by shielding them from the rising cost of oil through subsidies, yet the recent price rise has forced them to raise prices. The growth will be dampening by such a happening.
