The ideal portfolio of stocks

by Shabbir Bhimani on September 14, 2007

Just thought I would list all the stocks I normally track or have some money invested in them. The list is entirely mine and I would like to make such a portfolio where I have all of them but as of now I have some of them only.

Scrip % Comments
Axis Bank 5 Lots of momentum in the stock with some good solid roadmap ahead
ICICI Bank 6 Banks has lots of movement with ICICI bank after the FPO just could not perform and I consider it to perform well in the short term trend.
SBI 7 Best to have in the portfolio in the banking sector.
RIL 9 Always an outperformer and has given return of 400% in last 3 years with similar looking prospects ahead.
SAIL 5 Good movement in the steel segment
Tata Steel 9 Tata dominated the steel segment and so a must have stock.
ITC 5 Was ranged bound and looks like a good stock in the short term.
DLF 6 One of the outperformer in the Real Estate segment and all the Stock houses just tend to revise their targets and so I would prefer it to be in my portfolio.
Infosys 3 Technology sector is hammered and is good to have a small amount in it so that when it starts moving up you get some handsome return but can give you pain as well but remember No risk no gain.
RCOM 6 With the Tower business splitted and forex gain RCOM is one of the best choice of mine in the portfolio.
Bharti 6 RCOM splitting the tower business has given good valuation to the telecomm sector and so should have the big players in the portfolio.
BHEL 9 One of the star performers for me and I would always love to include it in my portfolio.
ONGC 8 An item which I would consider as good as gold and to buy in the dips.
Maruti 7 Lots of movement in the stock with the other 2 wheeler stocks going down so that would mean people tend to buy 4 wheelers and with the new model launched is a good stock to have till the end of the next quarter.
Reliance Energy 9 Yet another product from the reliance group which has a long term gain capability.
