“The Warren Buffet Way” Book Review

The Warren Buffett WayWhat are some of the books I should go through? This is quite often a question I get from readers and I thought I would suggest a must read book for all new investors.

“The Warren Buffett Way” is a great book that will walk you through the process of how to pick great companies whose shares happen to be selling at a discount. There are quite a few books which talk about Mr. Buffet way of investing because no doubt he is one of the greatest investor of all time. Starting with few hundred bucks in 1956 and today worth some $8.5 billion, with significant holdings in major companies on Wall Street. It might not be a bad idea to learn how to pick stocks like him!

About the Author

Financial consultant Hagstrom, a principal in a Philadelphia investment firm, describes the investment strategies and techniques used by Warren Buffett to realize enormous success as a professional investor. He did not interview his subject but obtained permission to quote from his Berkshire Hathaway annual reports.

Reviews

There are mixed set of review about this book at Amazon but what I noticed is new investors prefer this book and provide a good review but investors who know things about Warren Buffett to a deeper extent does not give very high reviews. As an example user rated 2 with the following comment

First let me say that the low rating I’m giving does not reflect my opinion of Warren Buffett and his methods in general, but rather specifically this book by Hagstrom. ……….

But other user gave a 5 on 5 with comments like

what I noticed is Excellent book for those interested in learning how Warren Buffett values stocks and businesses. I really learned quite a bit for the first read now I’m reading it a second time to pick up on what I might have missed!

My Views

I found the book an enjoyable read and much of what was suggested was either new to me, or was explained in a more simple and easier way than I had previously encountered. The book mainly focuses on stock picking and there is lot of content taken from Berkshire Hathaway annual reports.
