I was able to convince my friend that Buy low sell high may be better for very patient people but not for guys like me. It never works for me but will be interesting to see if it works for you.
Even when investing I don’t believe in buying low and selling high because I am very impatient. If price keeps falling for the stock I am holding I am very fast at getting out. In an argument with one of my friend I was able to convince him that Buy low sell high may be better for very patient people but not for guys like me. It has never worked for me but will be interesting to see if it works for you.
If possible, please share details about what has worked in comments below. I am sure it will be interesting to see what works for most of us.

Hello Shabbir,
Need your advise. I have opened a new trading+demat account with Motilal Oswal. The software that they have given is not of much use and does not show scrip specific charts or tech indicators. I am aware that 5paisa does provide its customers with an awesome s/w for day trading and charting.
There are lots of trading s/w available for the US markets, but not sure which one to use for BSE/NSE.
Could you please tell me what software I can purchase online or download which will allow me to :
1. Get streaming Real-Time Quotes and Charts from NSE and BSE.
2. Provide me with various technical indicators and tools to
apply on the charts.
3. Allow me to configure alerts when buy/sell signals are
generated based on indicators.
4. Incase Motilal Oswal does have a provision of all the above;
which I am not aware of, please be kind to let me know.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.Lastly, Thanks for your ebook.

Hi Soumya, I use Interactive Brokers software for NSE and that is the best as far as I know but Trade Tiger is nest best option but then it is not as good as I would like it to be.
Soumya says
Thanks Shabbir, Is there any such s/w for BSE as well. Can I assume you are not a frequent trader at BSE.
Shabbir Bhimani says
Soumya, I am a part time trader with default option as NSE and so I am fine trading in one exchange unless I am working on some arbitrage opportunity.
Soumya says
Thanks a lot. Now I recall you mentioning Interactive broker in many of your earlier posts.
Can we go for the trader workstation software ALONE without having to sign up for trading account with them. I visited their official website and found the Interactive Brokers Information System which has monthly packages in dollars.
There are also s/w such as Trader workstation, Web Trader etc which are available for download from the IB portal. Please help ..I am totally confused.
Just want to know if there is a standalone software available from IB without any account opening obligations. I am willing to pay for the package.
Once again…Thanks a million for ur continued patience.

The logic of share market movements is really monkey business!!! it goes up and down unpredictably. The risk in mutual funds are divided; hence even in a bad scenario; a mechanism of stop loss operates, with time;ly exit.
It would therefore be a safe proposition to go for the best FIVE equity Diversified funds for the small investor; and choose the funds from the best fund houses.
May i request mr. shabbir to kindly put forward his choice of the best five funds, for a 12 month time horizon; as of today with all the circustanes as at present.
All the readers would much appreciate his wisdom and recommendations.

Basic difference between Value Investing and Growth Investing.
You may end up making more money during the good times with an aggressive approach, however during a down turn, the buy high and sell higher approach can cause HUGE losses.

And what is stop loss for? Also Buy low but how do you predict the low?
