Member Reviews of Make Money In Equity – The Free ebook by Shabbir Bhimani
I get quite a few reviews and feedback about my free ebook through email and one by S Sethuraman on Wed, Nov 11, 2009 was really worth mentioning and I quote
Hello Mr Shabbir Bhimani ,
Thank you for your follow up mail .
As you have mentioned I have unloaded your e book and it is really worth . But the point is that Iam practising the same approach since 2004 when I started active investment in MF’s after leaving my job . I read the fund house fact sheets and investment patterns and things like that for my decisions and do it myself . Generally I don’t have much belief on the fund managers since they can leave a fund house if another offers a better option and vice versa . But good fund houses like HDFC , FT , BSL , Fidelity etc are having their own benchmark and standards set and a good fund manager has only to perform within his territory . Yes there are proven and good fund managers and their track records are good . But there are others also who do insider trading ( you might be well aware ) and are greedy and make a mess of things . There were two three cases . Since I know most of the Indian Companies basics and things like that due to my last employment nature of service and travelled the whole of India and visited major companies , my investment decisions are more easier . I also read business papers and mags .
Iam also not a greedy investor and hopes for a decent returns with capital safety . During the last 5 years with investment in almost all fund houses good schemes I have an average income of about 25 % returns taxfree and all my capital intact with moderate growth as on date . Most of the funds I have taken more than my capital as dividents and still my capital as on date is grown moderately . I have only divi payout mode .
When I have gone thru your ebook , I found I was following most of it which was written . Similar approach I take in Share market, where Iam not a regular trader but like a disciplined long time investor with safe and steady approach and there again my result is as above .
Hope the above suffice your feedback query . Your ebook is good for people like me . Thanks for your efforts .
Thanks and Regards ,
S Sethuraman

I just started reading this book and one immediate feedback is about a correction that is probably needed. The National Stock Exchange is not located at Delhi but is located at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

Sir,
Thanks for your ebook which is useful for all investors especially the beginners.Sir I wanted to know in the present market scenario, which are the best mutual funds to invest in through SIP route. Also please advice a mutual fund with less NAV price is better or a mutual fund with high NAV is better(if both the mutual funds are of similar category but different AMCS). More NAV less units purchased & less NAV more units purchased. What is opinion degarding this? One more query please suggest when to buy a mutual fund before the declaration of dividend or after the declaration of dividend?Your suggestions will be a great help to me & all investors like me.
Thanks & regards from,
Chandramohan Semwal.
Shabbir Bhimani says
It is the past performance and future outlook that matters and not the amount of units. I normally purchase before dividend for ELSS funds but not for all the funds.

Hello
I read your E-book and i really appreciate the efforts you put in to share the knowledge and ur efforts to spread the awareness.
I always look forward to any updates/articles/posts on your blog.
One thing i would say if you can put some efforts in redesigning/organizing the blog as well as E-book, like font, color, short paragraphs instead of long continuous details, that will be more interesting and help full.
Also it really helps to understand quickly if any concept or plan u have explained, is provided with a suitable illustration/example.
Nonetheless, superb blog , liked it very much .
Keep it up!

Hi Shabbir,
Its trithful guide for beginner yes for me as well.
I got to know most of new things and directions where should follow.
Now i am going to make money through your suggestions.
But i would like to clarify one doubt that is,
Does the company performance always depends upon historic records,
Because it might happen the company will bounce back
So is it right to hold the stock of these kind of companies?
Regards
Amar
Shabbir Bhimani says
Hi Amar, Thanks for your feedback and yes history should help you to judge the future many times if not always.

Hi Shabbir,
Assumming that the markets dips in the next 1 year, isn’t “Orthodox SIP (where in u buy more units when the stocks dip) beneficial compared to “My Special SIP”?
Shabbir Bhimani says
Neel, SIP’s are better in falling markets but then you are all guessing and so when doing SIP you should concentrate more on investment needs and not on market because SIP nullify the extra ordinary ups and down.

Dear Shabbir,
I feel that there is good future ahead for the Pharma stocks because of the bill that has been passed in US. There will be a lot of business outsorced in India.
Which do you think are some really goo dPharma stocks.
Shafat says
Nice and small. Basic investment explained in a simple and lucid way. Thanks Shabbir 🙂
Neha says
Dear Shabbir,
I have really liked your e-book.
I appreciate the ways you have mentioned to select stocks.
I would like to know how does the trading quantity mentioned at NSE and BSE, or the offer qty. & bid qty. affect your decision for purchase or sell of stock. As per my understanding it only affects the short term pricing of the share. Am i right?
Also let me know: there are thousands of companies listed on NSE as well as BSE, how do you initially select the stocks for monitoring.
Ihave recently puchased ABAN offshore. What do u have to say about it.
Shabbir Bhimani says
Neha, Thanks for the feedback. Yes the exchange price difference is for a very short period and its mainly known as Arbitrage and if you search the blog about it you will see some real time examples as well.
For Initial list you can choose the 30 Nifty companies to start with or any subset of the list. http://shabbir.in/nifty-listed-companies/
ABAN is good stock but at what levels you buy is important.

Kena says
Hi Mr Shabbir Bhimani,
The book was great and very informative, I am 27, at this early stages of my life I started investing stock market in 2007. Soon after that market is hit by recesion in 2008 leaving me with 40% loss in shares. From your experience could you please write how to plan for the next immediate year, how to plan our portfolio. Why I am asking this question is these days market has become too much volatile. In your book it is written for all times, talking about normal market conditions. Any way can you provide how to manage portfolio for next year?

KALYAN says
Dear Sir,
First of all, i would like to thank you for providing the e-book “Make money in Equity”. This book is really an eye-opener for a new comer like me. This ebook has made me understand the nuances of stock market.
Sir, i have some doubts.
1. Am not uable to undestand the difference between Orthodox SIP, Non SIP and My Special SIP (Page 12)
2. In Orthodox SIP, investment amount will be 72000 for 12 months, but in Non-SIP, it is 62000 (12×5000 +2000). Not able to understand this.
3. And what is the advantage in My Special SIP way of investing?.
Thanks a ton again for the ebook.
Thanks,
Kalyan.
Shabbir Bhimani says
Kalyan,
Thanks for the feedback and here is the clarification of the terms.
1. I have suggested list of funds and in that list if you start SIP in all of them at the minimum possible level ( values in the table above ) you would be doing SIP using the orthodox way. If you do lump-sump investment this is non-sip. My Special SIP is out of 13 funds I invest in any one fund monthly choosing my own way. No monthly commitments and I invest when I have the fund and see the market dips.
2. Many funds have minimum amount for SIP and lump-sump one time investment and so the amount varies.
3. Advantage is you can invest in any particular fund which you think would do better than other like now you should select more midcap funds.
Thanks
Shabbir
